"Sometimes you develop a passion for something because of some personal experience. That’s been my case. What a profound responsibility it is to recruit in the life sciences industry where we intend to help patients like Katelin and Jake to live longer and healthier lives as a result of the candidates we place" - Brenda Patterson, Founder & CEO

Katelin Patterson is our Founder’s daughter. She is 32 years old and has a Master’s degree in Social Work from IUPUI Indianapolis. Katelin works for the Boone County Jail as a therapist, where she provides individual and group therapy to inmates struggling with addiction issues. Katelin lives in Indianapolis with her two-year-old daughter, Mabel, and her three beloved dogs, Hannibal, Rah, and Manson.

Katelin was diagnosed in 1994 at the age of six with cystic fibrosis but has never let her disease define her. Katelin has been involved in many fundraising events for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. One of the most successful drugs that resulted in funds from the CF Foundation is Trikafta, which Katelin has been on since December 2019. The difference in her health and energy has been amazing. She has gained much-needed weight, experienced an increase in energy, and felt better as a whole. Recently she said, “I almost can’t remember what it was like to be sick.” Thank you to Vertex Pharmaceutical and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

NO more LOWS
NO more HIGHS

Jake Patterson is our Founder’s son and is 31 years old. Jake has a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Entertainment Media Management from Columbia College in Chicago. Jake works with JBK Search as Director Outreach. Jake has a passion for promoting local artists at festivals and music venues. He lives in Chicago with his girlfriend and their Shiba Inu, Lennon.

Jake was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 17. Like his sister with her CF, Jake never allowed diabetes to define him. He quickly learned how to prick his finger to test for sugars, manage highs and low, inject insulin, and manage his diet. Jake followed clinical trials and the advancements of the artificial pancreas and insulin pump. He was one of the first in line to start using this amazing technology. Thank you to Roche, Dexcom, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Jake strives to make a difference by providing financial support, time and energy to the CF Foundation and JDRF. In 2019, he participated in the One Dream Gala for JDRF in Chicago where a record-breaking $7.1 million was raised for T1D research. In 2018 and 2019, Jake was honored as an Ambassador to raise money and awareness at the Purple Tie Ball, a high-end fundraising event for the CF Foundation.
